Brighton Marina Neighbourhood Plan voting day is Thursday
Residents and businesses can have their say on whether the Brighton Marina Neighbourhood Plan should be adopted by the council in two referendums being held on Thursday (13 February 2025).
Councillor Liz Loughran, chair of the Planning Committee, said: “Neighbourhood plans are devised to work alongside the City Plan to guide development and help decide the outcome of planning applications in the area.
“This plan has been developed with extensive consultation and I hope as many residents and members of the business community as possible will take the opportunity to vote.”
Who can vote?
To vote in the residential referendum, you must be a resident of the Brighton Marina referendum area and aged 18 or over on polling day. You must also have registered to vote by midnight on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.
To vote in the business referendum, you or your business must be a non-domestic ratepayer for a property in the Brighton Marina referendum area and have registered a named voter on the business voting register by 5pm on Wednesday, 29 January 2025.
Details of the referendum area and eligibility to vote criteria can be found on our website.
How to vote on the day
The polling station for both referendums will be the Estate Office Board Room, Brighton Marina, BN2 5UF. Poll opening times are 7am to 10pm.
If the plan is supported by more than 50% of those voting in both referendums, the council will formally adopt it. Following the count, the result of each referendum will be published on the council website.
