Brighton & Hove has become the first in the UK to win a Gold Sustainable Food Places Award from Sustainable Food Places.

Video footage shows Mark Bott, of Gordon Road, Brighton, fly-tipping a lorry load of waste off Ditchling Road. Despite obscuring his face and number plate, council officers tracked him down at his home.

Local children's hospice Chestnut Tree House will, for a donation, collect your Christmas tree from your home between 9 and 12 January, all done in a Covid-secure way. Our council drop off points are also still running this year as normal.

Charities and organisations are working with vulnerable people to help them find a solution to their homelessness. The city’s Make Change Count plays a part in this and urgently needs your support this winter.

As lockdown lifts and businesses re-open, Brighton & Hove will be welcoming back visitors in the run up to Christmas.

A total of 25 Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic community groups have been awarded grants from the Engagement Fund to fund a range of community projects, many of which are helping residents stay connected during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the lockdown period that began on 5 November, an additional  business grants scheme will be available for some businesses, mainly operating in hospitality, accommodation and leisure. 

Most of the city’s libraries reopen again from Wednesday 2 December with Covid safety measures in place. We’ll also be extending our popular ‘Order & Collect’ service to community libraries from 7 December.
