Phase 1: Regeneration works
- Autumn 2019 – public exhibitions held
- Spring 2020 – design developed and plans submitted
- Summer 2020 – planning permission granted
- Autumn 2020 – detailed design completed, tendering begins
- Spring 2021 – significant works underway, including new sea defences
- Autumn 2021 – Duke's Mound works completed
- Spring 2022 – boardwalk completed, with increased vegetated shingle habitat
- Autumn 2022 – renovation of the Old Reading Room and Temple begins
- Spring 2023 – link road and bridge construction
- Summer 2023 – Phase 1 complete
Phase 2: Development brief
- December 2022 – Committee Agreement to Principles of Phase 2 development brief
- 2023 – produce a brief for developers to be agreed by Policy & Resources Committee
- 2023 – consultation with stakeholders and community on the draft brief
- December 2023 – take the final developers brief to Policy & Resources Committee for approval
- March 2024 – invite development partners to bid to develop the site
- October 2024 to February 2025 – appointment of a development partner and key contractual terms finalised and confirmed by Policy & Resources Committee
