You may be able to claim benefits or get financial help if you look after a child with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) or you have SEND.
Benefits you may be able to claim
If you look after a child with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or you are a young person with special educational needs or disability you may be able to claim benefits such as:
- Child Benefit
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children
- Child Tax Credit and Universal Credit
- Carer’s Allowance
- Direct Payments from social care
- The Family Fund
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
If you get benefits you may also be able to get free school meals for your child.
