eCargo Bike Accelerator project
Since 2020 our eCargo Bike Accelerator Project has been supporting SMEs, local businesses and traders to become carbon neutral. We’ve done this though several funding streams:
- the Department for Transport’s (DfT) eCargo Bike Grant Fund
- our own Carbon Neutral Fund
- the Shared Prosperity Fund Decarbonisation Grant
Using the DfTs 2020 grant we enabled 6 local businesses to integrate and operate ecargo bikes into their existing fleet. Our Carbon Neutral Fund enabled 12 local businesses and traders switch to ecargo bikes. Using some of our own funds we were also able to offer subsidies to local businesses to switch to using a sustainable delivery service. Over the last four years we’ve helped nearly 50 businesses to switch from van deliveries to zero emission deliveries by ecargo bikes.
Watch the video below and hear how Bruce, of Bright On Boilers, uses his ecargo bike for work.
Funding for eCargo bike purchases
Funding is not currently available for ecargo bikes or subsidies, however the eCargo Bike Accelerator Project still offers advice and support to local businesses looking to purchase their own bike.
If you want to know more about ecargo bikes for your business, send an email to transport.projects@brighton-hove.gov.uk. You can also ask to be added to our waiting list if future funding becomes available.
