Some of the local projects supporting the circular economy include:
- Climate for Communities is empowering neighbourhood initiatives such as repair cafés, reuse hubs, and sharing schemes
- The South East England Hub 4 Circularity is working across the city and region on initiatives to reduce waste in construction, water and food
- Southeast Remanufacturing Catalyst (University of Brighton) is improving the economic and environmental sustainability of manufacturing processes
- Food Use Places Project (Brighton & Hove Food Partnership) is tackling food and packaging waste with 16 community organisations across East Sussex that use food in their work
- Sew Fabulous (pictured right) is increasing sewing skills and knowledge of sustainable textiles by providing creative, affordable and accessible classes and events for children, adults and communities

Universities
The University of Sussex advances the circular economy through targeted research, specialised courses, and campus-wide sustainability initiatives. The University of Sussex also teaches the module The Role of Design in the Circular Economy.
The University of Brighton explores opportunities to create more just and environmentally sustainable societies through its Responsible Futures research. The University of Brighton’s Waste/Wild House was built using over 85% waste material and provides a living laboratory for ecological design research and demonstrations of sustainable living.
