Our famous seafront promenades and undercliff walks provide 13km of off-road walking. With about 150 parks, including heritage parks, playing fields and green spaces, there is a green space or park in easy reach wherever you go in the city. 40 per cent of Brighton & Hove is also within the South Downs National Park.
We have made significant investment in highways to improve footways and crossings. Central government is instructing all local authorities to create spaces for people such as the new Valley Gardens project. This makes active travel an attractive option for short journeys, or as part of a longer journey.
