Biodiversity surveys
The Biodiversity Checklist is designed to identify developments which may have an impact on protected species, allowing developers to identify and address any issues before a planning application is submitted.
The Biodiversity Checklist is designed to identify developments which may impact protected species, allowing developers to identify and address any issues before a planning application is submitted.
Applicants should use this checklist to carry out a ‘first impressions’ survey. If this indicates that protected species may be affected by proposals, further ecological work must be carried out and submitted with the planning application.
More information on the Biodiversity Checklist can be found in Annex 5 of the SPD. We've also produced some separate guidance to help householders complete the Householder Biodiversity Checklist (wildlife assessment check).
