The Ladies Mile Hotel was built as part of the Ladies Mile housing estate in 1935, possibly to the designs of Friary, Holroyd and Healy.

The clock tower was one of the first structures to be constructed as part of the Ladies Mile Estate, originally to advertise the estate.
