Report a problem that needs cleaning

Tell us if an area needs cleaning and we’ll start to clean it up within 24 hours if it’s dangerous and if not, as soon as possible. This system is not monitored outside of working hours or weekends.

What we clean up

We will clean up dropped litter, dog mess, and hazardous/dangerous materials left in public places.

Our street cleaning team regularly patrol our city’s public areas for problems, but if you let us know about a problem we can often clean it up sooner. 

We can only clean up mess and items on public land. We are not responsible for private land or private footpaths.

Dangerous and hazardous materials

We will clear up the following as a priority:

  • litter from drug use, especially needles
  • hazardous liquids when still wet, such blood, paint, oil and diesel
  • broken glass

You should never pick up or handle any of the materials or objects listed above.

If you find dangerous materials or objects caused by homelessness on main roads, our highways team will clear them.

Regular problems with litter 

Our street cleaning team monitor litter problems in the city and work out if there are regular problems in an area.

If you're concerned that a problem is regular and isn't being resolved, please mention this when you report a problem that needs cleaning.
