How to apply for a licence to hold ceremonies
Brighton & Hove is full of unique venues. If you own or manage a venue, you can apply for a licence to hold marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.
To become an approved venue, your venue must be:
- a permanent structure
- open to the public
- non-religious in nature
Secular buildings
If you have a secular venue that you would like to be approved for marriages, civil partnerships and other ceremonies and that has no past or present religious connection, download, complete and return the secular buildings form.
Religious buildings to register civil partnerships
If you are applying for a building currently used for religious worship, download, complete and return the religious buildings form.
Fees to licence a venue for marriages and civil partnerships

The licence runs for 3 years from the date of approval.
