Ceremony cancellation and amendments policy
See the terms and conditions of our cancellation policy.
If you need to cancel your ceremony
If your ceremony is taking place at Brighton Town Hall or an approved venue and you want to cancel it, we'll refund your fee, minus the non-refundable booking fee, as long as you give us 4 weeks' notice.
Our registrar fee is non-refundable for ceremonies taking place in the register office or at religious venues.
You will not be entitled to a refund if you:
- give us less than 4 weeks' notice
- don't let the register office know of the cancellation, or fail to attend the ceremony
Amending ceremony details
You will be charged £60 for each alteration if you want to reschedule or postpone your ceremony with 4 weeks' notice.
If there are fewer than 4 weeks to go before your ceremony, you will be unable to make amendments.
Cancelling or amending an appointment
This applies to:
- notice of marriage
- notice of civil partnership
- conversion appointments
If you would like to cancel, reschedule or postpone your appointment, you need to give us 5 working days' notice.
If you give less than 5 days' notice or fail to attend an appointment, you will not be entitled to a refund.
