What your ceremony can include
Personalising your ceremony
We encourage you to personalise your ceremony with music and readings. If you would like to include any other enhancements please speak to our ceremonies team. We will always do our best to accommodate special requests if we can.
Religious content
If your ceremony is at Brighton Town Hall, The Bandstand, or a premisis that we have approved, it will be a civil ceremony. Civil ceremonies may not include any religious content. This includes wording from religious texts, even if they don't mention God or a deity.
For example, the wording 'To have and to hold from this day forward, in sickness and in health’ comes from the Book of Common Prayer. This would not be permitted in a civil ceremony.
Dogs and other pets
Dogs and other pets are not allowed in Brighton Town Hall, except for registered assistance animals.
If you're marrying in a different approved premises, you'll need to check their policy on this.
Confetti
You can throw confetti by hand outside Brighton Town Hall. It must be biodegradable. We do not allow confetti cannons or other high-volume devices.
