You should not rely on the grace period as 'extra time to park'. Your renewed permit will be started from the day after the grace period, if the grace is used.
Parking permit grace period
Information about the grace period for parking permits.
What the parking permit grace period is
There is a grace period for all parking permit holders. This exists to help those who have forgotten to renew their permit on time.
The grace period means that you can display your permit for a certain number of days after the expiry date printed on the permit. As long as you've submitted your renewal application and park according to the terms of your current permit, you won't receive a fine.
All parking permits can be renewed/reapplied for within 6 weeks of the expiry date of your current permit.
Permit holders in waiting list zones are given the same grace period, but will not be able to renew a permit that has expired.
Renewing your permit on time
A courtesy permit renewal reminder email will be automatically sent to the email address in your MyAccount approximately 6 weeks before your current permit expires. This email reminder is a courtesy and should not be relied upon. We recommend that you set up your own parking permit renewal reminder.
If you are a resident in a permit waiting list zone, you need to take extra care to ensure your permits are renewed on time. Expired permits in permit waiting list zones cannot be renewed. You must rejoin the permit waiting list before being able to reapply.
