We're aware of a national scam where people are asked to pay parking fines via text. We'll never text you to request a payment for a parking fine. We'll only contact you about parking fines via letter or email. If you have any doubts, contact the Parking Team.
Event day parking permit terms and conditions
The terms and conditions you must follow when you use an event day parking permit for zones B and D.
Parking zones B and D are the event day parking areas in Coldean (zone B) and Moulsecoomb (zone D).
Parking restrictions in zones B and D only come into effect on the days there are football matches or events at the American Express Community Stadium.
Event day permits are free of charge and available to residents aged 17 or over who live in zone B or D.
You'll need to provide proof of residency and proof of vehicle ownership to apply.
You must attach the permit to your windscreen so it can be seen from outside your car.
If you have a match and event day parking permit, you can park anywhere in zone B or D that does not have yellow lines.
There are on-street signs at the entry points to zones B and D and signs on lamp columns that provide up-to-date information.
If you need to change any details on your permit, you must give back your current permit and make a new application.
As part of our policy to prevent fraud and misuse of permits, we can ask for proof documents at any time. This includes after we've issued the permit. If you don't give us the necessary information within 14 days, we can cancel the permit.
If a permit is lost, stolen, destroyed, defaced, or mutilated, the permit holder must notify Brighton & Hove City Council’s parking service immediately. In these cases, the permit is no longer valid.
We reserve the right to cancel a permit if you:
- do not pay for contraventions of parking regulations; this is known as being a persistent evader
- do not follow the terms and conditions
You can be classed as a persistent evader if:
- there are 3 or more recorded contraventions linked to the same vehicle within 5 years
- the penalties due for these contraventions have not been paid in full, have not been represented or have not been appealed against by the permit holder within the statutory time limits
- the representations and appeals for the permit holder have been rejected, and they have still not paid the penalties due in full
A permit is issued subject to the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders, which may be subject to change in the future.
Variation of terms and conditions
By applying for or purchasing any type of permit, the applicant:
- certifies that all the information that the applicant has given in the application process is correct
- accepts Brighton & Hove City Council’s terms and conditions as varied from time to time, together with any terms and conditions stated on the letter to which the permit is attached at the time of issue
- agrees to be bound by and comply with the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders, which may be varied from time to time
Brighton & Hove City Council reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions, application procedures and the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders at any time.
