Eligibility
Anyone who lives in Brighton & Hove can get help to make healthy changes.
Eligibility criteria for specific support
Weight management
Criteria for Tier 2 weight management
This service is delivered by Gloji Brighton & Hove.
Adults can use this service if they:
- are 16 years and over
- have a BMI greater than 25 or greater than 23.5 for:
- Black and Racially Minoritised groups
- people with comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes
Children and families can use this service if they:
- are 2 to 18 years old
- have a BMI greater than the 91st percentile
There's specific support available for pregnancy and learning disabilities.
Exclusion criteria:
- active eating disorder
- underlying medical cause for obesity
- significant co-morbidity or complex needs as identified by their GP or other healthcare professionals
How to refer to this service
GP surgeries can use pre-poulated forms in SystmOne or EMIS. These are located in the ‘weightloss’ section.

Criteria for Tier 3 weight management
Brighton and Hove City Council do not commission this service. More information is available on the ICS website.
Stopping smoking
Clients must be currently smoking tobacco.
Support to stop vaping is not currently offered, NCSCT guidance is available.
Pharmacy stop smoking support
Support may be available for people aged 12 and over.
Some pharmacies offer a domiciliary (at-home) service.
No referral is required. Evening and weekend appointments may be available.
Local pharmacy stop smoking service.
Healthy Lifestyles Team stop smoking service
The Healthy Lifestyles Team stop smoking service can support people age 12 and up. This service can provide a dedicated stop smoking worker, interpreting support and support can be in person, over the phone or video call.
This service operates a waiting list.
