Pride in Place in Brighton & Hove
The UK Government has selected Whitehawk to take part in Pride in Place, a long-term national investment programme offering up to £20 million to improve local neighbourhoods and putting residents at the centre of local investment.
In Whitehawk, the Neighbourhood Board will work with the community to develop a 10-year vision and an initial 4-year investment plan.
The funding is designed to put power directly into the hands of local residents, helping communities decide what matters most.

What Pride in Place is
Pride in Place is a 10-year national programme giving communities real influence over how money is invested locally.
In Whitehawk, this could include:
- improving green and open spaces
- creating or supporting community facilities
- strengthening local services and projects
- developing local assets for long-term community benefit
- attracting additional philanthropic and social investment
Our approach in Whitehawk
A new Neighbourhood Board will be created, made up mainly of independent local residents and people who work in Whitehawk.
The board will:
- listen to the community
- shape priorities for the area
- decide how funding should be used
- help create a 10-year vision for Whitehawk year vision for Whitehawk
This is about long-term, community-led change that creates a legacy beyond the initial investment.

Recruitment for Independent Chair closed
The Pride in Place Chair is a strategic role that will provide leadership over the 10-year programme.
This role will help to recruit the wider board membership, develop the Pride in Place Plan, and drive the programme forward towards delivery. Additionally, the role will lead the transition to a community delivery model in future years.

Board recruitment
The chair will be responsible for forming the board. Once the chair has been appointed, an open recruitment process will be conducted for board members.
