Email and text reminders for missed business rates payments
We’re now sending regular email and text reminders to people who have fallen behind with their payments.
Why we're sending reminders
To help residents stay on top of their business rates payments, we’re now sending regular email and text reminders to people who have fallen behind on their payments before the more formal ‘reminder’ notices are sent.
We offer this service to help prevent residents from falling further into arrears on their business rates payments. It may not always be available. We remind you that you are responsible for making your business rates payments and keeping instalments up to date.
If you receive a text message from us
The text messages will come from ‘BHCC’ and read ‘This is an important message from Brighton & Hove City Council regarding your Business Rates payments.’
It then asks you to follow a link beginning ‘https://sms.brighton-hove.gov.uk’ for further information. Following that link will take you to a page with a security question to check your identity before giving you further instructions on your business rates account.
If you receive an email from us
The email will be titled ‘Important information regarding your Business Rates’ and will come from ‘nndr@communications.brighton-hove.gov.uk’ and will include instructions on what you need to do.
If you receive any of these messages, we can confirm they are legitimate Brighton & Hove City Council communications and ask you to act on the instructions detailed as soon as possible.
