Talking Bus Stops
Find out about our upgrade and expansion plans for our real time passenger information (RTPI) displays across the city.
Updates and new system
We introduced Talking Bus Stops in 2007 to provide blind and visually impaired passengers access to our real time passenger information (RTPI) displays across Brighton & Hove.
These RTPI displays are now 20 years old. We're currently in the process of upgrading them, as well as installing new displays at bus stops across the city.
We're aware that recently there have been ongoing audio and display issues. We sincerely apologise. We know this is deeply frustrating and the audio issues are unacceptable for those who rely on upon audio information.
We're upgrading our bus stops to Audio Bus Stops, which don't require a fob to use them.
Audio buttons have been installed at the 60 upgrade sites and external speakers will be installed from mid-January 2026. The 160 new RTPI sites include audio facilities and amplification will be deployed from mid-January 2026
Thank you for your patience whilst we install this critical infrastructure.
