Where can I find information on the history of my property or area?
Local history books, photographs, maps, historic planning and building control plans, street directories, electoral registers and other archival information is available at The Keep, Falmer.
A number of online resources are available on the history of Brighton & Hove. Amongst these, the James Gray Collection of historic photographs on The Regency Society website can be very useful.
The Encyclopaedia of Brighton (Rose Collis) and the Encyclopaedia of Hove and Portslade (Judy Middleton) are useful resources that are available at most local libraries.
The council's Conservation Area Character Statements provide information on the history and special interest of the city's conservation areas.
