Processing times for planning applications are currently running with a 5/7 working day delay before we can start validating new applications. To focus resources on validation, we will not be responding to any requests for progress updates until we have had the application for 7 working days. We’re doing our best to process applications as fast as possible, and we appreciate your patience.
Planning information request form
Learn about a historic planning application.
Details of all planning applications and decisions from 1997 to the present day are available on our planning register.
Planning history and planning decisions
A planning history lists all planning permissions registered to a property.
For planning applications before 1997, you must complete the planning information request form (Word 42KB).
Email the completed form to planning.applications@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
We'll investigate and respond with details of the fee required.
Archived planning application files
All planning applications received after April 2016 are only available on the planning register.
The information held in older files will vary. It can depend on the year the application was submitted and the address. For example, if the property address is in Brighton, Hove or Portslade.
All historical planning files are held at our archive facility.
Order an archived planning application file
To order a file, complete the planning information request form (MS Word 38KB) and email the form to planning.applications@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
We'll check to see if the file is still available and let you know the fee required.
After we've received payment, we'll order the files. When the files are available, we'll contact you and arrange for you to visit Hove Town Hall to inspect them.
We cannot provide copies, and you won't be able to take photos of the documents due to copyright and possible GDPR issues.
