Changes of use from commercial, business and services to residential
Article 4 Direction - Commercial, Business and Service to Residential
We have removed permitted development rights (falling under Class MA) for changes of use from Class E (commercial, business and service uses) to Class C3 (dwelling houses) in specified parts of the city.
The effect of the Article 4 Direction is that from 10 February 2023, planning permission will be required for change of use from commercial, business and services uses (Use Class E) to residential (Use Class C3) in the specified parts of the city.
The Secretary of State has modified the Article 4 Direction area that was originally proposed by the council. View maps showing the extent of the modified area and the Modification Notice below.
