Processing times for planning applications are currently running with a 5/7 working day delay before we can start validating new applications. To focus resources on validation, we will not be responding to any requests for progress updates until we have had the application for 7 working days. We’re doing our best to process applications as fast as possible, and we appreciate your patience.
Neighbourhood planning step by step guide
Step 3: Prepare the plan
The evidence base and community engagement will help to identify key issues and a vision for the area, which may then be translated into objectives, policies, and proposals. A decision will need to be taken on whether to include site allocations in the neighbourhood plan.
Where site allocations are proposed it will be helpful to discuss these with council officers and the relevant landowner(s) also need to be identified and informed.
In developing policies, proposals or site allocations, different options may be considered and consulted on. We can provide advice on relevant national and local planning policies and guidance and can offer mapping assistance if required. Make sure to give us plenty of notice if you would like advice.
Generally, forums find it of assistance to seek specialist planning advice on writing the plan from a Neighbourhood Planning consultant.
Council officers find it helpful to have an opportunity to see and comment informally on the draft neighbourhood plan policies at an early stage before the draft plan is finalised. This is likely to reduce the number of comments made by the council at the Regulation 14 consultation stage.
