Apply for our listed building pre-application advice service

If you're thinking about alterations which require listed building consent, we can give you advice.

This includes:

• changing roof materials and replacing windows, doors, railings or other features
• alterations to internal layout, including removal or addition of walls
• painting or other types of cladding over stone, flint or brickwork or tiling of steps
• replacing or altering a shop front
• structural repairs or other repairs not carried out in matching materials
• fitting domestic flues or new external pipework

To commission pre-application advice from the Planning and Building Control service for a listed building or for a building in a conservation area, please complete the listed building pre-application advice form.

Email your completed form with any attachments to planning.applications@brighton-hove.gov.uk.

Fees

Our fees, including VAT at 20%, are shown in the tables below.

Payment is made for this service through our online payments page. The product name that will be shown on the page is “Products & Services - BHCC Pre Application Planning Advice”.

Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas

If your proposed development is for a listed building but will also need an application for planning permission, please use the appropriate form for that type of development.
