About the care leaver bus pass
What the offer is
- A free monthly bus pass
- For Brighton & Hove care leavers aged 18 to 24
- Running as a 3 month pilot from September
- Available to those living in Brighton & Hove
Why we are trialling this offer
This pilot supports Brighton & Hove City Council’s commitment to creating a fair and inclusive city and helping young people to thrive and live independent lives.
It has been shaped by feedback from care experienced young people at the Corporate Parenting Board – where young people share their experiences directly with the council to help shape services and support.
Young people told us that the cost of travel can be a real barrier. Better access to buses can help them stay connected, take up opportunities, and build independence.
Free travel was described as a way to “level the playing field”, reduce isolation and support wellbeing, helping care leavers to take part in everyday life across the city.
