About this privacy notice

The Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)  

Brighton & Hove City council are committed to protecting your personal information. As a data controller we have a responsibility to make sure you know why and how your personal information is being collected in accordance with relevant data protection law.  

For the council to consult on the construction of new housing in the city we must collect and process personal data.

Why we collect your data

We will use your data to:

  • consult with you on development proposals.
  • and to monitor the performance of our service 

We will collect and process your data under the lawful basis of legal obligation. 

What data we will collect 

We will collect your personal data in the form of contact details including:

  • name
  • address
  • email address
  • telephone number

Who we share your data with

We will not share your data with any internal council service or external organisation.  

How long we hold your data (Retention) 

We'll hold your data for the duration of the project (18 months after completion of the new homes or project closedown if it does not proceed to construction stage). 

Transferring data outside the European Economic Area 

Your information is not processed outside of the European Economic Area.

We aim to resolve all complaints about how we handle personal information. You also have the right to make a complaint about data protection to the Information Commissioner's Office.
