Overview
This privacy notice covers information collected by the Brain in Hand system, being run by Health and Adult Social Care at Brighton and Hove City Council.
Brain in Hand is a digital self-management support system for people who need help remembering things, making decisions, planning, or managing anxiety.
Brain in Hand can help people live more independently and is one way in which user’s health and well-being can be digitally assisted.
Brighton and Hove City Council takes data protection seriously. Brighton & Hove City Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and the UK GDPR and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
As a data controller, we have a responsibility to make sure you know why and how your personal information is being collected in accordance with relevant data protection law.
What information is being used?
To provide the service as a pilot we will use your name, home address, date of birth, contact information, adult social care number and information about your health and wellbeing.
We're processing the data for this pilot under the performance of a task carried out in the public interest. This is in line with our duties under the Care Act 2014 to ensure eligible care and support needs are met.
We have a lawful basis for processing special category data for the provision of health and social care. Under the Data Protection Act 2018, schedule 1, part 1, section 2 the use of Brain in Hand constitutes provision of social care services.
How long will we hold your data (retention)?
The pilot data will be retained for no longer than 3 months after the project has been closed. Where data has been used by your social care practitioner this will be saved in line with your client file.
We're working with the Brain in Hand app developer, and we will share your referral data with them. You can find more information on how Brain in Hand will use your data.
Brighton and Hove City Council may share your information with trusted external organisations to process your data on our behalf. Information is only shared with agencies and bodies with a "need to know" or where you have consented to share your personal data with such persons.
Your information will not be shared with any other third party unless we're under a legal obligation to do so.
Transferring Data outside the European Economic Area
Your information is processed in the UK or a country with an adequacy agreement with the UK.
